To put it into perspective, a human hair is equal to 100 microns. Media air cleaning units have several advantages: there is no electric used and therefore no cost to operate, the media filters are easy to replace and as dirt collects on the media, the collection surface area actually increases which increases the unit’s efficiency. Naturally this is only true for a period of time and the media should be changed twice a year in most homes. This period will vary with the individual home.
